CAF AFCON Trophies 1957-2025


The Confederation Of African Football (CAF) is the committee board for the African Cup Of Nations (AFCON). The first championship held in the year 1957 among three 3  participating countries were Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia supposedly four (4) in the exclusion of South Africa due to the apartheid. The trophy was named after the first CAF president Abdelaziz Abdullah Salem in 1957.









The winner with the most titled AFCON awards are Egypt being (7) times champion followed by Cameroon (5) times and Ghana (4) times.. The CAF football tournament which is sponsored by TotalEnergies every two (2) years in the orders of odd-numbered years due to the Fifa regulations, the host of World Cup championships whose events is organized even-numbered every four (4) years..


The African Nations Cup as so far designed three (3) flamboyant trophies is the histories of the African tournaments. First, in 1957 for 1963, the Abdelaziz Abdullah Salem trophy before the introduction of the African Unity ostentatious trophy in 1980.  The AFCON 1980 tournament hosted by Nigeria was the 12th edition which ended with the final score of 3-0 with Algeria being the first Nigerian titled of the CAF AFCON also, in Tunisia 1994 and South Africa 2013.


In 2000, the current Golden elegant and opulent designed AFCON trophy make it appearance into the championship in marking the history of 69 years of CAF games in the region of Africa. Trophy winner of AFCON 2000, Cameroon, the third (3rd) time titled championship co- hosted among two (2) countries Ghana and Nigeria. Recently, the AFCON  championship Morocco 2025 held in the northern Africa was hosted by Morocco'. The tournaments was finalized with the final scores between Senegal 0 - 3 Morocco making it Morocco's second title in the history.
